The heavily tattooed model, Rick Genest has passed away from an apparent suicide at the age of 32. The famous Canadian model, actor, producer and musician Rick was famous as “Zombie Boy.” He was featured in a campaign for French fashion brand, Thierry Mugler which discovered him as a Zombie Boy in 2010.
Rick passed away at his home on 1st August, Wednesday night in Montreal, Canada. The cause of his death is believed to be an apparent suicide. Authorities claim that he had been suffering from some mental health problems. He was found dead six days before his 33rd birthday.
The insanely famous singer, Lady Gaga called the loss “beyond devastating” and urged others to change the culture while talking about mental health issues in one of her tweets. She wrote on Twitter:
“We have to work harder to change the culture, bring mental health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it.” “If you are suffering, call a friend or family today. We must save each other.”
Rick’s management even paid a tribute on Facebook with the pain by his death. The post said:
“Rico was loved by all those who had the chance to meet him and know him.” “We received the unfortunate news at the beginning of the afternoon and members of the team have come to support his family and relatives in this dark and difficult moment.
The post further continued:
“We want to present our deepest condolences… Thank you zb for these beautiful moments in your company and for your radiant smile.”
Rick Genest Career: Movies and TV shows
Tattooed as a living skeleton, Genest had worked in various sideshows, and freak shows across Canada as an illustrated man. He was featured in the new Thierry Mugler Autumn/Winter men’s collection as a model for the first time on January 19, 2011.
Later, he was featured alongside Lady Gaga in the fashion show for the women’s 2011 Autumn/winter line. Lady Gaga even featured him on video for “Born This Way” on February 27, 2011, which in return pushed his fame skyrocketed.
Genest had portrayed the role of “Carny” in the film Carny, released in 2009. Also, he appeared as a Zombie Boy in the short film Aquario, released in 2013 from which he gained the nickname “Zombie Boy.” Later, he appeared as a Foreman in the box office film 47 Ronin on the year 2013. His other film credits include In Faustian Fashion, Love at Last Sight, and Silent Witness.
