The couple’s tragic death comes just three days after tying the knot and were reportedly in Florida celebrating their honeymoon. According to NBC Sports and the report from the Florida Highway Patrol, William was driving a Toyota Corolla and was headed north to U.S. 1. He drove across the center line and into the southbound lane at about 9:40 p.m. ET. The vehicle collided with a pickup truck.

Following the tragedy, Harrell’s team mourned the tragic death.

The racer for Hendrick Motorsports, Alex Bowman, tweeted,

“Rowdy was everything that made the 88 team, the 88 team. The biggest personality and the best person. He was the happiest person you’d ever meet, and that was only reenforced by his wife Blakley. Rip to an absolute legend. You’ll be missed every single day brother.”

Likewise, Harrell’s crew chief wrote,

“Devastated.

It has been a tough morning talking with teammates. The news hit us hard.

We are thinking of the families affected by this tragedy and wanted their consent before releasing a statement.”
