Dibesh Pokharel popularly known as his stage name Arthur Gunn is an American Idol season 18 Challenger. Arthur is the first boy from Nepal to reach one of the biggest singing platform, American Idol. American Idol 2020 premiered on February 16 includes the judge’s panel of pop star Katy Perry, R&B Legend Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Arthur won the heart of judges as well as the viewers by singing a Bob Dylan cover, “Girl from the North Country”. Apart from this, Arthur has also done a cover in various Nepali and English songs. Arthur Gunn first took a breath on this earth in 2000 which makes his age 20 by now. However, his actual date of birth is not available. He was born as Dibesh Pokharel, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Arthur is popular for his performance in season 18 of the American Idol. At the beginning of season premiere on February 16, Arthur gave his first audition. He was able to please the judge’s panel of R&B Legend Lionel Richie, Popstar Katy Perry and country singer Luke Bryan. Gunn delivered a Bob Dylan cover, “Girl from the North Country”. After that, the judge urged Richie said: “Just give me another song, just to get a little more of an idea of what you do”. Additionally, kate perry requested him to more eye contact and not look down at his guitar as much.

After that, Gunn sang the cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You ever seen the Rain?”. He sang the song so perfectly that his voice and performance nearly meet to rival John Fogerty’s original. In the middle when Gunn was performing, Kate Perry was cheering “There he is” two times pointing at him. Additionally, the other two judges were eventually high-fiving and saying ‘Oh my gosh’. Further, soon after the ending of the song, Kate said, he is the best. After that, they discussed how Arthur get into American Idol and finally welcomed him to American Idol saying you are going to Hollywood.

Coming up with the stage name “Arthur Gunn”!

Dibesh came up with his name while he was working on his first album “Grahan”. At that time, he thought of making himself a stage name. And later he ended up with the name Arthur Gunn. The name actually has a great meaning. According to  Arthur himself, ‘he is fascinated with Art. Further, ‘Hur’ means Hole which is a Biblical name. And Meanwhile ‘Gunn’ symbolizes battle and it shoots. However, he found the meaning of the name later.

Arthur has created his own album and also sing numerous cover songs. He has recently launched his first album ‘Nyano Ghar”. Further, he also sang Pralaya’A’ and Hamro Din. In 2018, he released his song Pralaya’B’. The same year, he sang the other two songs Aakash ko pari and Samundra Paari. Further, he came with song Ma and Karnal(The River) in 2019.
