Andrew has been married for about three decades to a lovely woman named Monique Ettingshausen. They got married in 1988 in a secret ceremony and lived a happy life with their four daughters, Tiarne, Matiese, Shalea, and Sienna.

Andrew began his career at Cronulla in 1983 and made his debut against Newton Jets in the round 5 of the 1983 season. In the 1985 season, his game improved as a fullback and cemented his place at the club scoring a total of ten tries in the season. In 1994, Andrew became the captain of the club and showed his best capabilities scoring 18 tries in 18 games. Also, Andrew took the Cronulla’s to the Super League Grand Final in 1997 but lost to Brisbane Broncos.
